Back to College (Karate College) - Day 1

Karate College, June 26, 2008

I am going to add to this post in updates, so check back for updates.

As posted, I was the first camper and waited a while! Check in was supposed to begin at 3 PM, but probably happened closer to 3:45, and I was starving by the time I finished. Welcome to Karate College 2008

It was actually a good thing waiting because I was able to appreciate the new venue (check out the views of the mountains in southwestern Virginia!).

What a view (Karate College 2008)
The view was gorgeous!

The Radford Recreation Center is a much-improved venue for the camp! Karate College venue

While waiting, I got to talk with Masters Bill D'Urso, Joe Hess, and meet with a bunch of instructors. Many seem to be repeat customers, like me (I was here in '93 and '05), and two were students of Dr. Beasley who've started their own schools and are members of his AIKIA organization.

One aside: the Blacksburg/Radford area has "cheap" gas - $3.89. Can you believe I think $3.89 is cheap???

Dude, I'm glad you're back in the world of the Blogger. I've missed you. I deliberately haven't bugged you about posting, etc... because I know that it's sometimes hard to balance things.

Anyway, good to see you back.

I enjoyed the photos. looks like a fun event. Can't wait to see mroe from the Karate College.

Dang I know you're busy but I hope you post about this. I'm a big fan of Beasley's books so I'm dying to hear what this camp is like!
