Joe Louis. How many times did he defend his title? He became a national hero when he KO'd Germany's Max Schmeling. Many boxing historians regard the first Joe Louis/Billy Conn fight as the greatest title fight of all time. Conn was winning it but his Irish got the better of him when he thought he could actually trade with The Brown Bomber in the 13th. That fact certainly gives credibility to the term "championship rounds".
