Training diary Sat. 7/17

Nathan T. and Mike F.

Notes:
  • Stance and footwork have improved - stance is now wider. Remember to not let your back be exposed to your opponent. Keep the front toe and rear heel on opposite sides of a line pointing into the middle of your opponent.
  • Worked on circling footwork and taking smaller, controlled steps, and sliding up the back foot. Remember that you're sometimes getting squared up here and make the necessary adjustments.
  • Keep the lead hand constantly in motion. Also, to lead, fist then feet (in other words, the hands move before the feet in a lead).
  • Never move straight back. Use the sides and other angles.
  • I was checking and leading, but you learned to roll off the check and use your own lead. It's a good one - remember it!
  • You are more relaxed. Keep up the bag and shadowboxing. Remember the ratio of rounds - twice as many in the air, as on the bag.

That's all for now. I'm sure I'll think of other things.

Oh yes, stay away from yard sales! :-)
